Murió recitando: “Tengo la Alcarria entre las manos...”. Así se apagó la voz de José Antonio Ochaíta, uno de los grandes creadores culturales del siglo XX. Pese a haber escrito algunas de las coplas más célebres de la cultura española, su nombre apenas se recuerda. Ochaíta: más allá de la copla sigue al escritor Manuel Francisco Reina y al director Jota Santatecla en un viaje metacinematográfico por los lugares que marcaron su vida. Un documental que explora, entre archivos inéditos y paisajes con memoria, la figura de un poeta que fue mucho más que las coplas que firmó.

He died while reciting: “I hold the Alcarria in my hands…”. Thus faded the voice of José Antonio Ochaíta, one of the great cultural creators of the 20th century. Despite having written some of the most iconic songs in Spanish popular culture, his name is scarcely remembered today. Ochaíta: Beyond the Copla follows writer Manuel Francisco Reina and director Jota Santatecla on a metacinematographic journey through the places that shaped his life. A documentary that, through unseen archives and landscapes filled with memory, explores the figure of a poet who was far more than the lyrics he signed.
BIOFILMOGRAFÍA DIRECTOR / DIRECTOR’S BIOFILMOGRAPHY

J. Santatecla (Valencia, 1991) ha trabajado durante más de una década como ayudante de dirección y productor en cine y publicidad. Creador de las iniciativas El poeta del metro e Inversos, y autor de los poemarios Niño mudo y El año de la grava, su obra transita entre la imagen y la palabra.
Licenciado en Comunicación Audiovisual, diplomado en Dirección Cinematográfica y doctorando en la Universidad de Granada, actualmente es director de producción en Grupo Idex. “Ochaíta: más allá de la copla” (2026) es su primer largometraje como director.

J. Santatecla (Valencia, 1991) has worked for over a decade as an assistant director and producer in film and advertising. He is the creator of the literary initiatives El poeta del metro and Inversos, and the author of the poetry collections Niño mudo and El año de la grava, with a body of work that moves between image and word.
He holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication, a diploma in Film Directing, and is currently a candidate at the University of Granada. He works as Head of Production at Grupo Idex. “Ochaíta: Beyond the Copla” (2026) is his first feature-length film as a director.
